Memorystore

GCP Memorystore — commitment brief

Data sourced: March 2026. Verify current figures at the Google Cloud Pricing Calculatorarrow-up-right.

Coverage summary

Memorystore supports spend-based committed use discounts (CUDs) across all Memorystore products — Memorystore for Redis, Memorystore for Redis Cluster, Memorystore for Valkey, and Memorystore for Memcached. A 1-yr commitment delivers a 20% discount and a 3-yr commitment delivers a 40% discount over on-demand pricing. Valkey CUD commitments are notably fungible across all Memorystore services, applying to any eligible Memorystore usage within the billing account regardless of which product the capacity runs on.

What is covered: Instance capacity costs (memory tier pricing) for Memorystore for Redis (standard and basic tiers), Memorystore for Redis Cluster, Memorystore for Valkey, and Memorystore for Memcached.

What is not covered: Network egress charges, any additional data transfer costs outside the Memorystore instance pricing, and Memorystore for Redis instances under 5 GB (M1 capacity tier) which are excluded from CUDs.

CUD types

Memorystore offers spend-based CUDs only. You commit to a minimum hourly dollar spend on Memorystore capacity in a region. Commitments automatically apply to eligible Memorystore usage within the billing account. Memorystore for Valkey CUDs are cross-service fungible and apply to Memcached, Redis, and Redis Cluster usage as well. Both 1-yr (20% off) and 3-yr (40% off) terms are available.

Regional availability

Available in all commercial GCP regions. Google's documentation confirms that Memorystore CUDs "can be used for instances in all supported Memorystore for Valkey locations," and the same broad availability applies to Redis, Redis Cluster, and Memcached products. CUDs are purchased per region within a billing account and apply automatically to all eligible Memorystore usage in that region.

⚠️ CUD availability varies by machine type and region. Always verify at GCP regions and zonesarrow-up-right before purchasing.

Archera

Google Cloud Memorystore is within Archera's commitment management scope. Archera can automate spend-based CUD purchase for Memorystore, monitor utilization across Redis, Redis Cluster, Valkey, and Memcached instances by region, and wrap commitments in a GRI/GSP — eliminating downside risk on over-commitment while preserving the full 20–40% discount.
