Cloud Run

GCP Cloud Run — commitment brief

Data sourced: March 2026. Verify current figures at the Google Cloud Pricing Calculatorarrow-up-right.

Coverage summary

Cloud Run is covered by the compute flexible CUD — the same spend-based commitment instrument used for Compute Engine and GKE. Cloud Run services using CPU-always-allocated (instance-based billing) and Cloud Run jobs are eligible for the 28% (1-yr) or 46% (3-yr) compute flexible CUD discount. The compute flexible CUD applies across Compute Engine, GKE, and Cloud Run within the same billing account, making it a single commitment that covers your entire eligible compute footprint.

What is covered: Cloud Run services with CPU always allocated (instance-based billing), Cloud Run jobs, and Cloud Run worker pools. The CUD applies automatically to aggregated Cloud Run vCPU, memory, and request charges within the eligible billing scope.

What is not covered: Network egress charges, artifact storage (Artifact Registry), and Cloud Load Balancing costs. Note: Cloud Run services using request-based (per-request) billing and Cloud Run Functions receive a reduced flat discount of 17% for both 1-yr and 3-yr compute flexible CUD terms — a lower rate than the 28%/46% that instance-based services earn.

CUD types

Cloud Run is covered exclusively by the compute flexible CUD. There is no Cloud Run–specific spend-based CUD product. The compute flexible CUD is a billing-account-level hourly spend commitment that applies across Compute Engine, GKE, and Cloud Run collectively. For instance-based (CPU always allocated) Cloud Run services: 28% on 1-yr terms, 46% on 3-yr terms. For request-based Cloud Run services and Cloud Run Functions: a flat 17% for both 1-yr and 3-yr terms.

Regional availability

Available in all commercial GCP regions. The compute flexible CUD that covers Cloud Run is a billing-account-level spend commitment and is not restricted to specific Cloud Run regions — it applies automatically across all eligible Cloud Run usage in any region within the billing account alongside Compute Engine and GKE usage.

⚠️ CUD availability varies by machine type and region. Always verify at GCP regions and zonesarrow-up-right before purchasing.

Archera

Google Cloud Run is within Archera's commitment management scope. Archera manages Cloud Run coverage through compute flexible CUDs at the billing-account level — automatically sizing commitments across your combined Cloud Run, GKE, and Compute Engine footprint, monitoring utilization, and wrapping commitments in a GRI/GSP to eliminate downside risk on over-commitment.

⚠️ Discount percentages are approximate. Request-based Cloud Run services and Cloud Run Functions receive a reduced 17% flat discount (both 1-yr and 3-yr), not the full 28%/46% that instance-based services earn. Always verify with the Google Cloud Pricing Calculatorarrow-up-right.
