# Cache for Redis

## Azure Cache for Redis — commitment brief

> **Data sourced**: March 2026. Verify current figures at the [Azure Pricing Calculator](https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/pricing/calculator/).

### Coverage summary

Azure Cache for Redis supports reserved capacity on Premium, Enterprise, and Enterprise Flash tiers, with discounts up to \~55% vs. pay-as-you-go on 3-year terms. Basic and Standard tiers are not eligible for reservations. Reservations are purchased in node increments — 2 nodes per Premium/Enterprise instance and 3 nodes per Enterprise Flash instance. Note: Microsoft has announced that Azure Cache for Redis will be retired on **April 30, 2028**; the recommended migration target is Azure Managed Redis.

**What is covered**: Cache node compute costs for Premium, Enterprise, and Enterprise Flash tier instances.

**What is not covered**: Storage, networking/egress, Basic tier, Standard tier. Usage beyond the reserved node count is billed at pay-as-you-go rates. Azure Compute Savings Plan and Azure Database Savings Plan do not cover Redis — reservations are the only commitment instrument available.

### Azure Hybrid Benefit

> Not applicable. Azure Cache for Redis is a fully managed PaaS service with no customer-managed OS or software license. AHB is not available for this service.

### Reservation vs. savings plan

**Reservation**: The only commitment instrument available for Azure Cache for Redis. Scoped to a specific tier, node size, and region. Delivers up to \~55% savings at 3-yr for Premium tier. Must be purchased in the correct node-count increments (2 per Premium/Enterprise instance, 3 per Enterprise Flash instance). Neither the Azure Compute Savings Plan nor the Azure Database Savings Plan covers Redis.

## Regional availability

Azure Cache for Redis reserved capacity is available in all commercial Azure regions where the Premium, Enterprise, and Enterprise Flash tiers are deployed. Reservations are region-scoped — each reservation covers instances in the selected region. Not all tiers are available in every region; Enterprise and Enterprise Flash tiers have more limited regional availability than Premium.

**Notable exclusions**: Azure Government and Azure China regions are not supported for Cache for Redis reservations. Enterprise Flash tier (F300–F1500) is available in fewer regions than Premium and Enterprise tiers.

⚠️ Availability varies by SKU and region. Always verify in the [Azure portal](https://portal.azure.com) or via the [Azure Retail Pricing API](https://prices.azure.com/api/retail/prices) before purchasing.

### Archera

Azure Cache for Redis (Premium and Enterprise tiers) is within Archera's commitment management scope. Archera can automate reservation purchase in correct node increments, monitor cache utilization, and wrap commitments in a GRI/GSP — eliminating downside risk on over-committed cache capacity.
